Privacy policy

Washout is a Chrome extension that covers websites you choose with grime you power wash off. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There is no Washout account, server or analytics.
What Washout stores, and where
Washout keeps a small amount of information in your own browser using Chrome's extension storage:
- Your site list and sound setting. Stored with chrome.storage.sync. If you have Chrome Sync turned on, Google syncs this between your own Chrome browsers under your Google account. Washout never sees or receives it.
- Visit counts and washing time per site, per day. Stored with chrome.storage.local on your device only. They set how thick the grime is and fill the stats in the toolbar popup.
Washout does not record which pages you view, what you click or type, or anything about the content of the sites it runs on.
Site access
Washout asks Chrome for access to a website only when you turn that site on, and only for that site and its subdomains. It uses that access solely to draw the grime overlay on the page. You can remove a site at any time from the toolbar popup, or revoke access in Chrome's extension settings.
The current tab
When you click the Washout icon, the popup reads the address of the tab you're on so it can offer to add that site to your list in one click. The address is only used in the popup at that moment and isn't stored unless you add the site.
Network requests
Washout makes no network requests of its own. Its scripts, sounds and textures are all bundled with the extension.
Deleting your data
Removing the extension deletes everything it stored on your device. Synced settings are removed along with it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
